Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why do I need a Cabin Watch service?
A. Are you close enough to your second home to provide immediate care? Getting to your second home may be tough enough for vacations, but visiting the home for inspections and maintenance can be truly difficult. So many things can happen in your absence: water leaks, mold, fire, floods, break-ins, electrical problems, insects. Even if you have a trusted neighbor or relative nearby, having a professional acting on your behalf is a much better option. We act as your advocate in your absence.
Q. Why should I hire Lincoln County Cabin Watch instead of asking family, friends or neighbors?
A. A neighbor or a friend is a fine relationship to have but they may not always have the time or capability to recognize a potential problem before it occurs. We are observant. Our home watch service is more than just watering plants and flushing toilets. We perform our visits with an experienced eye to help preserve your homes condition and value.
Q. Why do I need a home watch company when I already have a security system?
A. Lincoln County Cabin Watch is an excellent complement to your security system. Lincoln County Cabin Watch picks up where your security system stops. Your security response center will call you or a key holder when your alarm is activated. Lincoln County Cabin Watch can be listed as a key holder with your security company and respond to the alarm. Lincoln County Cabin Watch can monitor things that cannot be monitored electronically, such as flyers and newspapers piling up on your front door, exterior damage from a storm, or a tree over the roof of your home. Lincoln County Cabin Watch can also make your home appear occupied by making tire tracks or footprints in the snow at your property or by rotating blinds or lights.
Q. Who conducts the home watch visit and completes the checklist?
A. Cody Charlson and Marisa Sanchez, the operators of Lincoln County Cabin Watch, currently conduct all home watch visits and complete all checklists.
Q. Do we have to sign a contract?
A. No, we don’t have a contract. It is a service agreement and can be terminated at any time.
Q. What is the cost for this service?
A. It might be more costly NOT to have someone watching over your house. Many clients consider the cost per visit “a bargain,” and then, there’s that priceless “peace of mind.” Cost is determined by the individual needs of each client.
Q. Will you contact us in our absence?
A. Yes, Lincoln County Cabin Watch will email or call you – at your preference – if a situation arises and send pictures of anything needing attention.
Q. How do you handle “crisis situations”?
A. When a crisis occurs (and they do) you will be glad it isn’t just the teenager from four houses down watching over your home. Under our watch any crisis is handled and put under control as fast as possible. You will be called as soon as it is feasible but your home may require an instant response from a plumber, electrician, sewer technician, handyman, and police or fire department before we can locate you. As experienced crises managers we competently handle any challenge and always follow your pre-arranged instructions.
When hiring someone to watch your home always ask yourself whether the person you are hiring can efficiently handle emergency situations. This is what separates Lincoln County Cabin Watch from the rest.
Q. When do you perform your service?
A. Random surveillance is important. We do not establish any set pattern to our visits. Pictures are taken to show any issues that need to be addressed. We will call you immediately if there are any problems.
Q. How often should I have my home checked?
A. We recommend a minimum of 2 visits per month; weekly visits are even more desirable. In the event of a problem in your home, such as a water leak or A/C malfunction, the damage resulting from these problems will become greater the longer they go undetected.
Q. Can you water the plants while you visit?
A. Yes, watering plants is offered by Lincoln County Cabin Watch Concierge Service.
Q. How do I get started?
A. If you are in town just call and we will come by and meet with you to go over our services and give you a personalized quote. If you’re not in town, give us a call and we will be happy go over our services on the phone.
